Kiko was conceived as a children's book by Allen Rhodes and Sean Salter. I was hired to help develop Kiko into an animated show for preschoolers. I directed the entire development of an animated short to pitch the property. I was responsible for the animated character design, art direction, boarding, layout, background design, story and script editing, assembling and directing the production team, directing the voice actors and score composer, EMMY® award-winning Bruce Broughton, sound design, editing, mixing, and final delivery.
I accompanied the team to KidScreen in NYC to pitch the property for production and distribution. We were successful in securing a distribution deal with Paul Robinson of KidCo Ltd. Unfortunately, the economic downturn cut our production backing and we weren't able to continue with production. The property is still receiving interest.
Developed by EMMY® award-winning composer, John Henry Kreitler, Christopher Kazoo and Bongo Boo is the first installment of an arts education storybook curriculum produced by ArtzSmartz, a division of Little School House Books. The storybook was written by R.O Price and illustrated by Nancy Coffelt. I was hired to produce and direct the accompanying animated portions of the program based on the style of the book.
I produced 18 minutes of animation from script breakdown to storyboards, layout, background design, character design, animation, compositing, and final delivery. The program won the 2009 Mom's Choice Award and is currently used in schools across the country for music education.
